Season 5 is here, and it's the biggest one yet. In this preview episode, I sit down with my producer and composer Adam Arnone to break down everything new this fall: a longer season (September–May), a mix of guest interviews, solo casts, and daily "Manifesto Minutes" for courage on demand. We talk about how my interviewing style has evolved since Season 1, how I choose guests, and why every guest reflects the No Time to Be Timid manifesto. Plus, a first look at our season opener with Krista Monson, former artistic director of Cirque du Soleil.
My producer/composer Adam Arnone and I are sitting down to talk about what's coming this fall. We're talking a longer season (September all the way through May) and a brand-new mix of episode types so you never run out of brave.
Here's the lineup:
Adam and I also get into how much my interviewing style has changed since Season 1 (spoiler: nerves → confidence), how I actually pick guests and how it's never about obligation, always about the creative spark. We also talk about why every single guest is a living, breathing reflection of the No Time to Be Timid manifesto.
And the season kicks off September 24th with a guest I am SO thrilled about: Krista Monson, who spent 13 years as the artistic director of Cirque du Soleil. If that's not a masterclass in creative courage, I don't know what is.
I also give a quick update on where you can catch me next: Podcast Movement in New York, sitting on a panel with past guest and Homemade podcast host, Shannon Cason.

Tricia (00:12.078)
Hey there, I'm Tricia Rose Burt. And in this podcast, we talk to artists who show us how to find the courage to take risks, step out of our comfort zones, and use our creativity to make our work and change our world. Pay close attention because this is no time to be timid.
Hello, everybody. Welcome to the show. And today we're gonna have a little preview of season five. What we're gonna be doing this season five. And joining me today is Adam Arnone, who's the guy behind the scenes who makes everything happen. Hi, Adam.
Adam (00:50.424)
Good morning. How are you?
Tricia (00:52.204)
I'm good. I think y'all've heard his music before. Haven't we played your music before on the show?
Adam (00:58.552)
That's a really good question. I don't remember if we played any of my solo music that I do outside of the show. They've heard my music from all of the scoring that I do during the episode, through the Entera Bang ads in the theme song as well.
Tricia (01:15.084)
Well, we try to make every single part of the show interesting and moving and compelling. And that even is reflected in our ad. That's because that's where we have Adam compose that music and then we have the great theme song at the end. And so just so you all know, we're working very hard to make this a great experience for you. And this year there's gonna be all different ways to experience No Time to Be Timid. So we've started
A new thing right now it's just been on Instagram, but it is gonna migrate over to not only YouTube and the YouTube Shorts, but also an audio form. So those of you who subscribe in the audio podcast, and those are manifesto minutes, and they last kind of a little bit longer than a minute, but it's always just kind of a courage pick me up that happens Monday, Wednesday, Friday on Instagram.
And we're gonna incorporate that into you know our lineup this fall. The season this fall will start September and we'll go through May. That's another change that we've made. It'll be longer this season. It'll include manifesto minutes. Then you may have noticed I've been doing what we're just calling solo cast when it's just me talking. and those run about five or six minutes. And then what we're gonna start in September is just sort of an alternate.
Is it an alternating schedule? Is that the word I want? So we'll start with a yeah, let's go with that word. We'll start with a guest interview on Thursdays as usual. And then two weeks later we'll have a solo cast. And then two weeks later we'll have a guest interview. And then two weeks later we'll have a solo cast. And all in between there, manifesto minutes will be dropping. And so you will never have an opportunity not to be brave this whole year. You're just gonna be courageous all year because we're gonna be giving you.
Adam (03:04.173)
Mm.
Tricia (03:09.708)
Just courage and inspiration and guests who can urge you on in your creative efforts. That sound
Adam (03:16.222)
Yeah, I mean I think also what you're saying is y you don't have any excuses anymore, people. We're we're we're giving you everything that you need. This is this is your this is your injection of courage and brave and you know, we're stepping up our efforts. So I we hope that you'll join us.
Tricia (03:20.534)
Yeah.
Tricia (03:34.936)
That's true. I'm yeah, we really are. We yeah, we really we've gotten some great feedback from people about how important the show is to them. And there's just other ways that we can I mean, it takes a lot to do a podcast, just FYI. It takes an awful lot to do a guest podcast. I research the guest. Adam's doing all sorts of, you know, I wanted to say shenanigans behind the scenes, but being an expert audio person behind
Adam (04:04.034)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tricia (04:06.778)
And then and now we're going into this, you know, this video component as well. So people can watch the show on YouTube. It's there's a lot of work that goes into doing a guest episode. And so to sort of kind of give us some space in between, but to keep making sure that we're putting content out there that people appreciate, we're gonna do these solo casts, the manifesto minutes, and and so yeah, we're stepping up our game because it seems like we all need.
Like guest Barry Dean said, that great line when he said he ran out of brave, in episode season four, episode eight. We don't want anybody to run out of brave. And so we're we're just trying to give as much content as we can to folks to keep them going and put beauty out there in the world and putting their art out in the world. And we're also kind of shaking up our guest list because it's gonna be artists. We're starting out with a fantastic woman named Krista Monson, who was the
artistic director of Cirque de Soleil for 13 years. She's done amazing work. We're kicking off with her, but we're gonna have a season mixed with like some people in business and how they use creativity to really shape the business that they do, people who've started movements, people who've, you know, are are making traditional art and people who are making using creativity in ways that are unexpected. And so I think it'll be exciting. We really hope that you tune in.
Adam (05:28.706)
We definitely hope that you tune in and if you've already noticed that what's been happening over the the summer that there's been more episodes as being released in different formats and we're hoping to instead of it just being like a burst of a season, it's more of a a continuous offering of of different pieces of No Time to Be Timid.
Tricia (05:50.934)
A constant drip of courage. Just it's the IV drip of courage. And we want to be here so when you're thinking, I can't do this, there's no way I can do this, I can't do this, that you can tune in and hear us say, Well, yeah, you can. Yeah, you can, you know. And if you haven't downloaded your manifesto, if you don't have your No Time to Be Timid manifesto, make sure you do. Go to Trish Rose Burt dot com slash manifesto, and it will be right there for you. We want to make sure you do that. And just so you know that Adam and I.
continue to try to get smart about this medium and we're gonna be going to the podcast movement conference next week in New York. I've been asked to sit on a panel with our good pal Shannon Cason. If you haven't heard Shannon, he was season two episode
Adam (06:37.966)
well he's been in a couple of times 'cause we re aired of his episodes too. Yeah.
Tricia (06:44.526)
Season two, episode two, Shannon Cason, he's a fabulous moth storyteller and he's just a wonderful
Adam (06:51.31)
He has his own podcast, homemade. Yes.
Tricia (06:53.986)
Which is amazing. Go listen to that. Go listen to homemade stories. And that you can hear Adam everywhere. so we're gonna be at podcast movement next week, which is very exciting. We'll bring back some new ideas from that. And if any of you have some thoughts on things you'd like to hear on the show or some thoughts about the show or what gets you excited about the show.
Adam (06:58.614)
They also did the music for that.
Tricia (07:21.196)
Reach out at podcast at trishroseburt.com. We'd love to hear from you. you'll have the opportunity to comment on things on the YouTube channel. I'm on Instagram, so you can find me wherever, you know, just put in Trish Roseburt, I'll show up somewhere.
Adam (07:35.404)
we've been talking about what this new season is gonna be like, in I was thinking about, you know, we've now done this is gonna be our fifth, so we've done four complete seasons. It is. Do you feel like your interviewing style has changed from the first season to this coming season?
Tricia (07:44.846)
It's amazing.
Tricia (07:53.112)
Well, I hope I'm better at it. I mean, what's interesting when I started doing this podcast, I didn't know if I'd be any good at it because I didn't think I'd be any good at it because I was always the one I was the one on stage. You know, I wasn't the one I wasn't the one interviewing. I was usually the one on stage. And so I didn't know whether I would be good at this in this capacity. And then I realized
Adam (08:00.856)
Far. You're better at it.
Tricia (08:22.954)
at when I teach storytelling, all you do is listen and ask questions. That's all you do when you're teaching somebody how to tell a story. And so it was this transferable skill set was like, God, I just do it over here now. And so I encourage everybody to think about what is that, what are the skills you're using in one place that you can move to another place. And so and so that and I guess my style has changed in the sense that I'm way more confident than when I first started.
I'm better at researching. I'm better at shaping questions and guiding guests through a story. I think I'm better at making people feel safe so that they'll open up and say things that they may not otherwise open up and say. Is that answering your question? I don't know the style is different, but my approach is different, I think.
Adam (09:17.9)
I think those are interchangeable. That's yeah, that that answers that.
Tricia (09:21.792)
I think as an interviewer, because I've conducted so many at this point, I'm just better at it. You know, and and and it and but I'm always so excited, Adam. I think so much of it is we are so careful about how we curate the guests for the show. We're so careful about who we want to have conversations with and who we think our audience will get excited about that you know.
We're already excited before they show up on the screen. You know, I mean Yeah, that's true. Or show up on the studio. I mean, we're just there, there's already all this energy that's happening even before the interview begins.
Adam (09:59.864)
When when you're independent and you're you're not really beholden necessarily to you know, an anybody needing you to do anything for a reason that isn't just purely, you know, creative driven, and also there's never been a single guest on this show that we've ever been like, we have to interview this person because it would be good for so and so or to do like
Everyone who's ever been on this show has been because they speaking of, you know, the manifesto, that is really what drives this show. And also the people that we've picked have always been so kind and generous with their time. and also because we've wanted to learn something from them. And you feel like you are getting them in this setting and asking questions, I think that's a huge part of it. It's like
You know, you get to be a little selfish with it with asking like, well, I I this is what I wanted to know. When you created this thing, what were you thinking? Or how does this work? Or so that's a really nice thing to know. And hopefully, you know, for the listeners that y'all know that is the process. When when we're picking guests and and we're we're trying we're building the the schedule and and the the outline for how this thing is gonna go, we
Tricia (10:59.926)
This is what I wanna know this.
Adam (11:22.658)
We try to figure out who, yeah, who would work where, but also like what creative goals we are trying to find within our or meet within ourselves and ask the questions of the people that we really admire.
Tricia (11:34.242)
You know, and who is a reflection of the manifesto. Right. Right? Who's really kind of living that manifesto? That's another way. I guess if you ask how I've changed as an interviewer, I will ask anyone to be on this show. There's like I'm not going, I don't know, I've I feel scared to ask them. I'll just frickin' ask you know, and only a hand I mean, not even a handful. Only like three or four people have said no. Or or b by way of not getting back to me, which means, you know.
I can just knock on their door about five or six more times and maybe get them. So anyway, so I, you know, we're really, we get really excited about the people on the show and they know it and they're excited to be here. And it's just, it feels really good. And you know, just but again, it's labor intensive, and so we're just sort of stretching things out. So we can have this, you know, September to May schedule and with three different ways between the manifesto minute with the solo cast with these guest interviews.
there is gonna be really no time to be timid. Starting now, starting September twenty-fourth is our first guest podcast with Krista Monson.
Adam (12:42.956)
That is very exciting. Alright. Well, you know what, Tricia , I wish you luck.
Tricia (12:48.78)
You too, buddy. You sure gonna be the one. You're gonna be the one that makes. I mean, I can show up, man, but you know, my zone of genius is not what you do. people are always like, Tricia , so do you do your own editing? I'm like, no, not for one second do I do. Nope. I know. And we really wanna thank our executive producers, Sage Wheeler and Amy Grant and Nancy Perot.
And Interabang Books they're the ones that make this show happen. They're, you know, they're the ones, their support is really you know, helping us have season five. So and please share with your friends. Make sure that if there's an episode that you particularly like, please subscribe to the show, review the show. It really helps build an audience. And there's a lot of people who are moved by the show and its content. And the more people, the better.
And remember, should we say it together, Adam? remember this this is no time to be timid. There we go. Thank you. We'll see you next week or in two weeks.
Adam (13:58.862)
That might have been the most timid I could have ever said that.
Tricia (14:03.054)
I know. This is no time to be timid.
Adam (14:06.286)
You're right. This is no time to be timid. See you all soon.
Tricia (14:09.518)
Thanks.
Tricia (14:22.21)
